On the occasion of celebrating eleven centuries of Croatian Glagolitic culture (925 – 2025) the Club of students of Croatian language and literature “Jazik” hosted presentation of the project FEMIGLA at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (University of Zagreb) on May 14th.
The presentation was led by project collaborators Dr. Sanja Cvetnić, Dr. Dolores Grmača and Dr. Ana Šimić, the project lead.
After brief introduction to the project FEMIGLA, the researchers on the project drew attention to different subtopics related to the subject of women and the feminine in the Croatian Glagolitic culture as well in the premodern period of written culture in general.
Among others, they addressed Croatian duchess Maruša, queen Jadwiga of Poland, Jelena Šulina from Vrbnik (island of Krk), St. Veronica and her veil, medieval female pilgrims and St. Mary Magdalene between reality and pop-culture.
The presentation was followed by rich discussion led by various and thought-provoking questions from the students of Croatian language and literature.
We appreciate the given opportunity to present the project FEMIGLA at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as interest in the Croatian Glagolitic culture shown by the Club of students of Croatian language and literature “Jazik”.
