Lecture in Grobnik on the Frankopan women in Glagolitic heritage

On April 30, 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Saša Potočnjak (University of Rijeka, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences), a member of the FEMIGLA project research group, gave a public lecture titled The Frankopan women in Croatian Glagolitic heritage (Croatian: Frankopanke u hrvatskoglagoljskoj baštini). The lecture was part of the Frankopanski krug event, which was organized by the Chair of the Chakavian Assembly of Grobinšćina in the town of Grobnik.

Dr. Potočnjak discussed the importance of individual Frankopan women in Croatian Glagolitic culture and literacy. Glagolitic documents, breviaries, graffiti, wills, and other records all attest to the Frankopan women’s influence.

The lecture demonstrated that it is impossible to adequately comprehend the Frankopans’ impact on Croatian history and culture, and consequently on Croatian Glagolitic culture, without addressing the female family members.
