Presentation in Budapest on the lexeme “sьsьkь”

On May 5, 2026, the Institute of Slavic and Baltic Philology in Budapest (Hungary) hosted the 13th Conference for Young Slavists at the Faculty of Humanities of Eötvös Lorě University (ELTE).

The conference providing an opportunity for young graduate and doctoral students of Slavic languages, literature, history, and culture to interact, share ideas, and present their latest research was attended by PhD candidate Dajana Ćosić, a collaborator on the FEMIGLA project.

The topic of her presentation, titled Naming the female body in Croatian Church Slavonic: on the lexeme sьsьkь (Croatian: Imenovanje ženskoga tijela u hrvatskome crkvenoslavenskome: o leksemu sьsьkь), was the word for “breast” in Croatian Church Slavonic.

The presented research contributes to the study and understanding of the vocabulary associated with the female body’s anatomy and physiology.
