Associate professor Dr. Dolores Grmača (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb), a project FEMIGLA researcher, participated in the 17th International Slavic Studies Conference „Philological (Re)visions“. The conference was held on 8–10 June 2026 at the Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“ (Bulgaria).
She presented a paper titled Female Characters in the Miracles of Our Lady in Medieval Glagolitic Sources.
In her presentation, she discussed various characters of women who have been miraculously rescued by the Virgin Mary, including the pious as well as sinners and felons. Regarding the latter, she emphasized Mary’s forgiveness and aid along with the lack of condemnation. Thus, a significant shift in the representation of women with unrighteous and non-exemplary behaviour is evident in this popular medieval literary genre.
